Flying beach volleyball star adorns transavia.com airplane
Schiphol, 3 February 2012
Airline company transavia.com is a presenting partner of the European Beach Volleyball Championship, to be held 30 May to 3 June 2012 at The Hague Beach Stadium on the beach at Scheveningen. The partnership was confirmed today with the christening of a special transavia.com aircraft adorned with a ‘flying’ beach volleyball star.
Bram Gräber, Managing Director of transavia.com, explains, “The European Beach Volleyball Championship is a combination of top-class sports, fun and recreation for all. It’s the perfect match for our brand, which represents enthusiasm, involvement and a shared experience. And, of course, the thousands of kilometres of beach that we offer with our more than 90 destinations. Communication online and through social media is essential for a company in the travel and holiday airline market like transavia.com. But we also aim to strengthen our relationship with passengers, partners and employees in the Netherlands through events that allow us face-to-face interaction. A top sporting event like the European Beach Volleyball Championship is the perfect opportunity for just that: a shared experience that brings joy to all involved.”
The special stickered airplane can be seen in the run-up to the event at three transavia.com bases in the Netherlands: Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Rotterdam The Hague Airport and Eindhoven Airport. And transavia.com will be raffling off admission tickets to the Beach Volleyball Championship 2012 among those who ‘spot’ the plane and post a picture of it on the transavia.com Facebook page. The raffle will continue until 2 March 2012.
transavia.com filmed the stickering of the airplane using time-lapse photography. Watch the impressive video here.
Norbert Chevalier from TIG Sports is delighted with the collaboration with transavia.com. He says, “this is the second time the Netherlands is to host the European Beach Volleyball Championship and the fact that it’s being held in The Hague is clear acknowledgement of the fantastic accomplishments of Dutch volleyball players and the growing enthusiasm for beach volleyball in the Netherlands.”
Thanks to the duos Nummerdor/Schuil and Keizer/Van Iersel, the Netherlands ranks among the top European and international teams, both men’s and women’s. As a result, the Beach Volleyball Championship promises to be a spectacular event with Dutch players competing for the title and an exciting competition to become part of the delegation to the Olympic Games.
The FIVB Beach Volleyball SWATCH World Tour was organised in 2011 and both the organisation of the European Beach Volleyball Championship and transavia.com sponsoring are a further step towards the growth of the event. By the year 2015, this championship will be a competition for the world title. TIG Sports and the Netherlands Volleyball Association(Nevobo) have submitted their candidacy for the organisation of the Beach Volleyball World Championship to the FIVB.
