transavia.com offers an escape to the winter sun with the new destination of Dubai
Schiphol, 16 April 2012
transavia.com is ushering in the 2012/2013 winter season with a new destination: Dubai. Like Dubai, most new destinations in the winter schedule are winter sun destinations. The successful winter sports destinations have seen significant growth in recent years and will therefore continue to be offered. The city destinations can be booked all year round, including the new city destinations operated from Eindhoven and Amsterdam. A growth of around 10% is expected this winter season.
The winter schedule is operated from 1 November 2012 to 31 March 2013. transavia.com launched ticket sales for the winter season on 5 April, earlier than last year since it has become clear that customers want to book their winter holiday early.
The new destination of Dubai will be served twice weekly from Amsterdam starting in October 2012. Dubai is not only an excellent winter sun destination, but also offers lots of entertainment and shopping options all year round. The number of flights to the Canary Islands (bookable from June) and Morocco are also being increased, thereby enabling transavia.com to meet the increasingly greater demand for winter sun destinations.
Improved schedules for city trips
The flight schedules to city destinations have been improved considerably, so that holidaymakers can take better advantage of their stay and to make a short break or city trip even more appealing to customers. This includes more outbound flights on Friday and return flights on Sunday evening. The city destinations experienced significant growth last year, more than doubling sales. transavia.com’s goal is to continue this trend. The destinations can be booked all year long, including the new destinations of Budapest, served from Amsterdam, and Berlin, Lisbon, Istanbul and Valencia, served from Eindhoven.
Last year, the airline experienced a 25% growth in ticket sales to winter sports destinations and will continue to respond to the growing demand for short ski breaks. With more than 50 weekly flights to major winter sports destinations served from the four major Dutch airports, transavia.com is positioned as the market leader. The number of flights from Groningen to Innsbruck was increased this year from 1 to 3 per week and a weekly flight to Chambéry from Amsterdam was added.
