New Commercial Director appointed at

Starting 1 August, the team will be reinforced by the addition of Roy Scheerder as the new Commercial Director. He will be replacing the current Commercial Director, Willem Hondius. Roy has been working for the KLM Group since 1999 and has played an important role in the e-commerce developments at KLM for much of his career. In doing so, he has made a highly significant contribution to the innovation and effectiveness of KLM in this area.
Roy has been the Marketing VP for KLM Nederland since 2009. In this position, he has been responsible for all aspects of marketing efforts in the Dutch market. In his new position, Roy and the commercial management team will take the lead in the further commercial development of New initiatives are to help achieve the growth ambitions of the fixed routes/low fare segment in coming years, among other targets.
Willem Hondius, the current Commercial Director, will be moving to Nairobi, Kenya, this summer, where he will serve as the General Manager of East Africa for AIR FRANCE KLM. Africa is an important area for the Group, even more so with the recent further expansion of the collaboration with Kenya Airways.
Willem has been working for for the past 13 years. During this time, his contributions to the organisation have been considerable. Over the past six years, Willem has taken the organisation in a clear and important direction as head of the commercial team.
