transavia.com to focus on city trips and short breaks for summer 2012 and introduces 6 new routes

Schiphol, 6 September 2011 – transavia.com is launching ticket sales for its summer season in 2012 on Tuesday, 6 September. In the summer of 2012, the airline will be catering to a growing demand for city trips and short holidays, primarily with regional departures. The capacity from Eindhoven is being increased by 50% to more than 50 flights each week. The summer schedule runs from 10 April to 31 October 2012.

Six new routes – transavia.com is opening up six new routes from the Netherlands this summer. The sizzling city of Seville is back in the schedule and served from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The popular sunny destination of Split is being served once again from Rotterdam The Hague Airport and, from Eindhoven Airport, four new routes are now available to such popular destinations as Valencia, Lisbon, Venice (Treviso) and Istanbul. With the addition of these new routes transavia.com now offers more than 90 destinations that can be booked directly from the Netherlands and more than 130 routes in total.

Continued regional growth – In addition to the continuation of four new destinations from the region (Vienna, Prague, Madrid and Milan), the frequency of flights from Rotterdam The Hague Airport to Gerona, Bergerac and Montpellier is being increased. Once again, transavia.com is responding to a growing demand for city trips and short getaways.

Bram Gräber, General Director of transavia.com comments, “After a strong summer season this year, we are experiencing growing interest in our scheduled-service flights, particularly for city trips and short breaks. In response, we are launching more scheduled flights to popular European destinations. Most of these flights originate in the Rotterdam region and the rapidly growing Eindhoven area. We have also succeeded in maintaining our leading position in the charter market. Our competitive pricing has been a win-win situation, so we will continue to offer flights at highly competitive basic prices, allowing customers to pay only for those additional services that they desire.”

The early launch of ticket sales for the 2011 winter schedule was extremely successful. The number of bookings already received is many times greater than at this same time last year. Many consumers are booking their winter sports holidays or winter sun holidays early, which is why transavia.com is also launching the sales of its 2012 summer schedule early.
