IInnsbruck has many small shops and department stores where you can find souvenirs and Tyrolean dress. The best place for shopping is the Herzog-Friedrich Strasse in the old centre. You will find shops along the streets packed with Tyrolean trinkets. You can buy wood carvings, wrought-iron candelabras, loden hats and lederhosen at Tiroler Heimatwerk and Tirol Haus.

More and more haute couture shops are appearing in the new parts of the city. Take a look in Cristas or Petera in the centre if you are looking for a bit of glamour.

Shopping centres, too, are a speciality. You will find the best at the Rathausgalerie. This glazed building accommodates all kinds of clothing shops and bars. Close by, in the Swarovski Crystal Gallery, dozens of jewels sparkle enticingly.

For bargain-hunters, Innsbruck offers good markets that are mainly held on the Franziskanerplatz near the Hofburg. A flea market on Saturday mornings and a farmers’ market on Thursday mornings are well worth a visit. Eating and drinking Innsbruck meets all culinary desires of its inhabitants and visitors. Gorge on real Tyrolean wares or enjoy foreign cuisine. All is possible in this fine Austrian city.
