Transport:
- Buses and trolley buses form the backbone of the public transport system. In Sofia there are also trams and an underground. There is a fixed fare within the city, irrespective of the distance travelled. Tickets are only available from kiosks at the main stops.
- Taxi: affordable, although not all private taxis have a meter, in which case be sure to agree the fare in advance.
- Train: there is a fairly good rail network; nearly all towns can be visited by train. Between Sofia and Varna there are even express trains. By Western standards the train tickets are extremely cheap.
