Airport
The main airport on the island is Reina Sofia in the south. Reina Sofia is located 60 km south of the capital Santa Cruz and 25 minutes from Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas. Local buses depart from the airport to different parts of the island.
Public transport
Tenerife has an excellent bus network and the bus will take you to nearly all the places on the island worth seeing. The trip from Playa de las Americas to the capital Santa Cruz takes around an hour by bus. You can buy your bus tickets in the newspaper stalls.
Taxis
Taxis are good and cheap. A ten percent tip is the custom.
Post
Post offices are open from 9h00-21h00, and 9h00-14h00 p.m. on Saturdays. You can also buy stamps in tobacco shops.
Chemist’s
Chemist’s shops are distributed throughout the island. In Playa de las Americas there is a Farmacia in Urbanisación Eugenio. The local authorities in Santa Cruz prepare the opening schedule for pharmacies for emergencies.
Dentists
Available in Adeje, near the Playa de las Americas, on Avenida Bruselas, s/n, Centro Comercial Fañabe Plaza, on the ground floor opposite the Jacaranda Hotel.

Opening hours
Shops are generally open between 09h00 and 14h00 and then again from 17h00 to 20h00 p.m. Banks are open from 08h00 to 14h00.
