NightlifeNightlife

Grenoble’s nightlife mainly focuses upon the many students who live in the city. Favourite nightspots are located between Place Grenette and Place Notre Dame, where you will also find Le Barberousse, a ‘rummery’ that possesses both good music and good rum. Many people compare the inside of its bar with that of a pirate ship, due to the large amount of wood used.

As a jazz lover, you will also be in your element, for example in La Soup aux Choux, where the best live jazz has been played for over 25 years. If you wish to stay out into the early hours of the morning, you should visit the area around Rue Brocherie and place St-André. If heavy electronic music is more to your taste, you should visit Mark XIII Dept 2.

In the winter sports regions, the emphasis is of course on the après-ski. The resorts of Val Thorens, Les Deux Alpes, l’Alpes D’Huez and Tignes are well-known for their extensive après-ski opportunities. In these resorts you can find bars such as the infamous (Dutch) Le Grôte du Yeti.
