The Nice Roller Attitude community organises a voyage of discovery through the city every month. Join the crowd gathering at the Beau Rivage hotel for a trip to the sea and the Promenade des Anglais.

Cimiezpark

The best way of enjoying peace and quiet in Nice is a trip to the Cimiezpark behind the Matisse Museum. Here, the residents of Nice gather for a game of pétanque, to walk their dogs or for a picnic amongst the olive trees.

Beach promenades in Saint-Tropez

The route to this small path is clearly indicated from the city’s tourist office. Here you can walk along the rocks of the coast. Now and then, you must keep a look out for your own bathing beach, far away from the big beaches like Voile Rouge. There are also a number of small sandy beaches. A wonderful walk at any time of the year.

The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MAMC)

Nice wants to maintain its status as a centre for pop art. In this imposing building you can admire Nice’s leading local artists, such as Ben and Niki de Saint Phalle. The latter has donated 170 of her works. But Andy Warhol, Picasso etc. are also there.

Museum Matisse

You will not find Matisse’s greatest works here. But you do get a good picture of the development of his artistic genius from his sickbed as a young man to his tomb behind the museum. Following the visit, you can stroll in the painter’s footsteps. And the villa is beautiful!

Villa Arson A centre for modern ar

t. This is both an art school and an exhibition centre, often with works from pupils or former pupils. It also exports art.

The St. Réparate Cathedral

The Cathedral is a masterwork of Baroque architecture. Admire the fine decorations and sculptures in the reviving coolness of the cathedral. On the outside, the view of the sparkling colours of the dome has become one of Nice’s distinguishing features.

L’île Sainte-Marguerite and L’île Saint-Honorat, outside Cannes

From the port, behind the film palace, you can sail to these islands which lie fifteen and thirty minutes from Cannes respectively. The first of these is a former prison island where a mysterious masked prisoner was kept locked up in the 17th century. The peaceful flower-covered island of Saint-Honorat has a monastery.
