Destination Paris

Along with London, New York and Tokyo, Paris is one of the four largest cities in the world. With its 12 million inhabitants, it therefore is also by far the largest city in Western Europe. The City of Light, as Paris is affectionately called, was originally established on the Île de la Cité, but has since spread out so much that it now also engulfs the towns on the hills in the vicinity. The city is subdivided into twenty districts, which in turn, are subdivided into a total of 81 quarters. Paris is cut in half by the river Seine, along which you will also find many of the places worth seeing.
