The Cretans are mad about lamb and goat. Their ‘ofto lam’ and ‘psito’ are well-known. The island is especially famous for its dairy products. Kefalograviera, the semi-hard kefalotyri, Anthotyro and the soft mizythra are all tasty and belong to the best of the Greek cheeses.

Loukoulos

For a special meal in a splendid terrace garden or in the antique dining room, Loukoulos offers interesting Mediterranean dishes with a Greek touch and fine attractive salads.

Cafés

Most cafés and bars in Heraklion lie in Korai Street, the town centre. You do not need to know where it is – simply ask a passer-by and he will be pleased to show you the way.

View of the port and the Venetian fort. This is a fantastic spot in the summer (if you manage to find a table).
