Airport information

The airport of Amsterdam – Schiphol – is the largest airport of the Netherlands. Also the smaller airports, such as Rotterdam Airport and Eindhoven Airport, are not located far away from Amsterdam. The easiest and cheapest way to travel from Schiphol to Amsterdam is by train. The journey takes between 20 minutes to half an hour to get to the Central Station.

From Rotterdam Central Station, you can travel by train to Amsterdam in 45 minutes. From Eindhoven it is a bit further to Amsterdam, but there is a direct bus to the centre. This takes 90 minutes.

Public transport


Train

From Central Station in Amsterdam, you can travel to The Hague, Rotterdam, Amsterdam and many other cities in the Netherlands. You can buy a train ticket at the ticket-vending machines at the station or at the ticket counter. Tickets are not sold on the train! Public transport in Amsterdam

It is easy to explore Amsterdam: the city has an extensive public transport system consisting of busses, trams and the metro. You need a bus and tram card for the bus, tram and metro. For each trip you can stamp the correct number of strips or have it done by the conductor. These bus and tram cards can be bought at bookshops and at various shops and kiosks at the stations.

Bicycle

Amsterdam is ideally suited to be explored by bicycle. At many stations you can rent an OV-bicycle. You can also find bicycle rental shops all over Amsterdam.
