The capital, Valletta, is the ideal destination for shopping. Here you will find a great variety of shops and there is a market every day starting at around 8h00. You can perhaps find something appealing here, but even if you do not, the market itself offers sufficient diversion. Sliema is also a good destination to go shopping and you will find Malta's largest shopping centre here at the Plaza Shopping Centre.

If you are looking for something typically Maltese, the art and crafts village of Ta' Qali is the place where you have to go. Malta has various glass blowers, meaning glass is also a nice souvenir. At Ta' Qali you can see the craftsmen at work at the many stalls. At Ta' Qali you can also find lace, ceramics, filigree silver jewellery, ornamental metalwork, woodwork and leather products. The prices are reasonable, but look out for low-price "B products" amongst the glasswork - some products are strongly priced down because they contain small faults. You will encounter a number of these products in areas that are popular amongst tourists, such as Bugibba, Sliema and Valletta.
