To do
FestivalsNumerous religious celebrations and festivals take place throughout the year. The dates of these festivals – very important to the Moroccans – are determined on the basis of the Hégire. The most important festive days are holidays. These include the turn of the year (Ras as-Sane), the birth of the prophet (Mouloud), the end of the Ramadan (Aïd al Fitr) and the festival of the sheep (Aïd al Adha or Aïd al Kebir).
Cultural events
In June, Fez is home to the Holy Music festival.
Summer is also the time of the moussems, which are Berber festivals that have a fantastic atmosphere. Every region has its own moussem. The international festival of the raï is held every summer. The moussem of Tissa, 60 km to the north of Fez, is the largest in the country. This normally takes place at the end of August or the beginning of September.
Sporting activities
An excursion per jeep, scaling the dunes with quads, a genuine Berber evening and a trip by horse or donkey are highly recommended. You may also take a trip through the desert.
