Those who love traditional tradesmanship will enjoy themselves. Morocco has successfully retained the ancient trades and have developed them to excellent quality. When it comes to pricing, you do have to take into account that in many places your negotiating skills will be put to a tough test.
The best places to do your shopping are still found in the souks and the shops in the medina.

The souk (market) is a place where people come together and which forms the core of the commercial activities. In the towns, the markets are held once or twice per week during the morning. In the cities, the souks are mostly found in the medina where the products are grouped per category.
The souk is a collection of traditional trades, shops with fruit, vegetables, meat and many other products.

Shopping centres
These ‘Western’ shopping centres are normally found in the centre of a city and negotiating about the price is not possible. In these centres you will not find the special products offered at a souk, but the same products that are also found in the Netherlands, though much more cheaply.
