Eating & drinking
The Egyptian cuisine is not the most sophisticated but if you take the trouble, you can eat well. You can detect influences from the Middle East but also from Greece, France and Italy. You can also enjoy European cuisine in the modern tourist hotels.
Try:
- Kofta: grilled meatballs
- Kebab: grilled meat
- Foul: a tasty thick sauce of brown beans and herbs
- Baba ghanugh: a mixture of tahina , fried aubergine puree, chick peas, garlic and lemon juice
- Kusa: grated fried courgette with a coating of meal and egg
