Practical information
Airport
Faro’s international airport is located 6 kilometres to the west of the city, right on the coast. Buses number 14 and 16 regularly go to the centre of Faro. The journey takes approximately 20 minutes. A taxi ride takes just under 15 minutes.Public Transport
Faro’s railway station links the city with the rest of the Algarve and the rest of Portugal. There is also a good bus network, which is usually more efficient for journeys made in the area. In Faro itself it is best to go by foot.Taxi
For longer journeys, it is advisable to negotiate the price in advance, because the taxi driver has a right to various surcharges, such as for returning empty, if the taxi meter is switched on. Tips, even small ones, are not compulsory, but are appreciated.Post office
Faro’s main post office is in Largo do Carmo.Chemist’s
In each district of the city there is always a 24-hour pharmacy (a farmácia, displaying a green cross), that is open according to a schedule that comes into force when other pharmacies are closed.Dentist
Treatment by a dentist who works for the national dentist service is not very expensive, but is also not of the highest quality. At the Dr. Ana Medinas Clínica Dentária you can undergo private treatment.Address: Avenida 5 de Outubro 25, 2F
