Palma de Mallorca
Behind the fishing nets lying on the quayside to dry in the sun, is the stock exchange building La Lonja, dating from 1388. In the Middle Ages, the Mediterranean's largest trading centre was where we now drink coffee. The Romans already gave the city a name in 123 AD and called it Palmeria. The Moorish name for Palma - Medina Mayurka - became the name for the entire island.Casco Antiguo - the old inner city
