Eating & drinking
Turkish cuisine, which is a wonderful mixture of simple Nomadic dishes, Byzantine luxury and fresh ingredients, is considered one of the best cuisines in the world. A Turkish speciality is the raki table, which is a combination of small starters (meze) with raki (lion’s milk), an alcoholic drink that tastes of aniseed. Kebab is a meat dish made of mince which is heated on a standing grill and is used in thinly cut pieces. Köfte is another dish that is made from mince. It consists of balls of mince which are served in special restaurants, just like kebab. The most popular soup is Iskembe. It is made from cows’ stomachs and is served with vinegar. Fish and crustaceans are very popular among the population of the Turkish Riviera.
