Shoppers will have the time of their lives in Istanbul. The biggest attraction is the Grand Bazaar. This is a conglomeration of hundreds of tiny shops in a maze of narrow covered streets. You can find anything here, from genuine carpets to fake brand items. Be prepared for pushy salesmen as well as haggling over the price. Or just enjoy ‘window’ shopping.
Please note: this market is known as the Kapalicarsi (covered market) in Turkish – handy to know when you want to take a taxi to get there. Some taxi drivers would not understand 'Grand Bazaar'.

Also visit the Egyptian Bazaar and experience the heady scents of Asian spices.

  • Istiklal Caddesi: A wide undulating pedestrian street with shops, cinemas, hotels, restaurants and cafés.
  • Cevahir Shopping Mall: This can get pretty crowded during the weekend.
  • Cukurcuma: Boutiques and antiques.
  • Bagdat Caddesi: Very chic (requires a crossing to Asia).
