Adnan Menderes Airport

The airport lies 18 km to the south-west of the centre and can be reached in a number of ways.

Havas airport bus

Buses leave from the THY bus stop at Menderes Airport and drop you at the THY terminal at the Buyek Efes hotel on Gaziosmanpasa Bulvari. The journey takes 30 minutes.

Shuttle to the airport

Menderes airport – Alsancak train station. Leaves on the hour, the schedule is not reliable.

Around Izmir

Dolmus Minibus acting as a collective, less expensive taxi service. You can stop one in the street. Minimal charges.

Ferry

Sails to and from Konak and Alsancak. The ship there and back takes 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Underground

Probably the least effective way of travelling round Izmir.

Horse and carriage

Take a drive along Izmir’s waterfront, the Birinci Kordon, in a calèche (coach pulled by horses). Get on and off at the Pasaport pier.

Post

The main post office is at Cumhuriyet Meydani (open 24 hours).

Chemist’s

In Konak: Mersel Ecza Dep, 848 Sok 2/24. There is a duty chemist’s shop in every neighbourhood, after closing hours and on Sundays. A notice with the necessary information appears in the chemist’s shop’s window.

Dentist

Alsancak State Hospital, Alsancak – open 24 hours for accidents and first aid.
