taking along hold and hand luggage

Hand luggage
Hand luggage may be taken with you into the cabin. Since luggage space in the cabin is limited, certain conditions apply to hand luggage. The hand luggage permitted per person is:
  • 1 piece of hand luggage (including laptop, photography and filming equipment)
  • maximum dimensions (L x W x H): 55 x 35 x 25 cm
  • maximum weight: 10 kg
In addition, each person may also take aboard:
  • 1 coat
  • 1 carrier bag containing items purchased at the airport after completing the security check and customs inspection
Please note: if your hand luggage does not meet the above size and/or weight requirements, it must be checked in as hold luggage, for which you are required to pay a fee at the airport. When paying at the airport, the (more expensive) airport rate applies. If it is determined at the gate that your hand luggage does not meet the size and/or weight requirements, it will be checked in as hold luggage and you will be required to pay €30 for every piece of luggage. Please note: It is only possible to pay by debit or credit card.

Read the EU safety regulations for hand luggage

Tip: Always attach address labels to the inside and outside of your luggage. Keep your travel and insurance papers, medications, passport and other valuables in your hand luggage – never in your hold luggage.

Hold luggage
As of 5 April 2011, checking in hold luggage is an additional service for which a fee will be charged. This service can easily be purchased ahead of time when booking your flight or even later at My transavia.com or by contacting our call centre. If you purchase this luggage service online or by calling our call centre, we charge a special (reduced) rate that is less than what you would pay at the airport (the airport rate).
Any luggage that may not or cannot be taken into the cabin is automatically hold luggage. The conditions that hold luggage has to meet are as follows:
  • you may take up to 5 pieces of hold luggage per person
  • the total weight of all your hold luggage may not exceed 50 kg per person
  • the total weight of one piece of luggage may not exceed 32 kg
Luggage that exceeds this weight limit shall not be accepted for transport.

If you are travelling with a baby, different rules will apply. For more information, please go to the page travelling with babies and children.

Standard hold luggage includes:

  • portable electrical household appliances
  • musical instruments
  • kite, wakeboard, waveboard and boogieboards shorter than 1.65 metres
