The still relatively undiscovered city of Lille lies on the banks of the River Deule in France. This charming city is filled with historic treasures. The old city centre in particular is a real gem. Visit the Palais des Beaux Arts, one of the first museums in France and a definite must-visit during your city trip. Some claim that the most beautiful historic buildings in Lille are located on the Place du Général de Gaulle, such as the Old Stock Exchange, which appears to be one big building, but is actually 24 separate houses.

Lille is perfect for shopping fanatics. In the old section of the city, Vieux Lille, you can explore a criss-cross of narrow streets, where old houses with coloured facades alternate with local boutiques and fun antique markets. The large shopping centre of Euralille and its international store chains ensure a well-filled suitcase. Ready to relax in the evening? Lille is famous for its fabulous food. Transport to/from the airport

Lyon Airport is located about 11 km from the city centre. You can travel to/from the airport by taxi or bus.
  • Taxi

    The taxi ranks are located in front of the Departure Hall. It is approximately a 20-minute drive to centre of Lille.
  • Bus

    The shuttle bus (Navette) stand is located opposite the arrival hall. It takes you to the centre of Lille. Get off at the Euralille shopping mall between the Gare de Lille-Flandres and Gare de Lille-Europe railway stations.

Transport in the city/region

Travel anywhere within Lille:
  • Metro

    Most of Lille’s sights are within walking distance of each other. But... after hours of walking and shopping you may want to take the metro. There are 2 metro lines in Lille. These run from 05:00 to 00:00.
  • Bus

    The bus can take you anywhere in Lille. There are 60 bus lines to take you to your destination. You can buy a ticket from your bus driver.
  • Tram

    Apart from lovely Lille, do you also want to visit the region around Lille? There are two trams in Lille. The T line brings you to the city of Tourcoing and the R line brings you to the city of Roubaix.
  • Taxi

    In Lille, you can hail a taxi on the street or hire one at a taxi rank.
