Transport to/from the airport

Budapest’s Liszt Ferenc International Airport is located about 16 km to the south-east of the city. You can travel to/from the airport by taxi or bus.
  • Taxi

    You will find a taxi rank in front of Terminal 2. Here, you can hire a taxi to the centre of Budapest.
  • Bus

    Take bus 200E is to travel to the centre of Budapest cheaply. The bus leaves for Kobanya-Kispest metro station every 10 minutes from Terminal 2. From here you can take metro M3 (blue line) to the centre of Budapest. From Terminal 2, you can also take the AirportShuttle minibus. These are slightly more expensive but allow you to get off at your exact destination.

Transport in the city/region

Travel anywhere within Budapest:
  • Metro

    Take the metro to explore Budapest’s most interesting spots quickly and conveniently. The lines are indicated in red, yellow and blue. You can buy tickets at the ticket counter.
  • Bus

    Take the city bus to get to all places you cannot reach by tram or metro. Note: you can also take the express bus, which skips several stops. These buses are easy to recognise by their red boxed line numbers.
  • Tram

    Do you want to explore the route along the Danube? Take the tram! The yellow trams run along both banks of the Danube – Buda and Pest.
  • Taxi

    The taxis in Budapest are easy to recognise by their yellow number plates and the 'taxi' sign on the roof. You can hail them anywhere on the street.
