Fly to fascinating Marrakech

The best spots in Marrakech lie hidden in its narrow streets and alleyways. The setting is reminiscent of a Thousand and One Nights fairytale. The city is home to centuries-old mosques (tip: Koutoubia Mosque), lovely gardens and magnificent palaces. In addition to all its history, Marrakech also has a modern side. In the new section of the city, you’ll find international restaurants and popular chain stores. Shopaholics beware: before you know it, your suitcase will be filled to the brim!

Transport to/from the airport

Marrakech’s airport is located about 6 km from the city centre. You can travel to/from the airport by taxi or bus.
  • Taxi

    There are two types of taxis that run from the airport: the petit taxi and the grand taxi. The petit taxi takes up to 3 people. The journey to the centre of Marrakech takes about 15 minutes and costs between 30 and 50 MAD. The grand taxi takes up to 6 people and costs about 60 MAD.
  • Bus

    Bus number 11 runs every 20 minutes to Djemaa el Fna. The bus is less frequent on weekends and public holidays. A ticket costs 3 MAD and the journey takes about 30 minutes.

Travel anywhere within Marrakech:
  • Bus

    Marrakech has a very large bus network of more than 30 bus lines. The bus is the perfect way to explore the sights of Marrakech. You can buy tickets in the bus. Bus number 1 runs between Ville Nouvelle and the medina and costs 3 MAD.
  • Taxi

    There are taxis everywhere in Marrakech. They are convenient and very cheap. Agree the fare in advance because the taxi drivers do not always stick to their taxi meters. Taxis are recognisable by their beige colour.
Tip: Travel in Marrakech by carriage! You will see a lot of the city and it is cheaper than a taxi.

Important information

  • It is recommended to be vaccinated for Hepatitis A and DTP. This is not obligatory. 
  • It is not advisable to drink the tap water in Marrakech. Should you wish to drink water, it is best to buy bottled mineral water at one of the supermarkets.
