The magical sights of Marrakesh

You won’t be bored for a single second in this magical Moroccan city. We have selected the best sights for you.

Djemaa el-Fna Square

One of the sights of Marrakesh is without a doubt Djemaa el-Fna, the city’s central square where visitors and residents come together. Stroll along the market that sells all sorts of authentic products from Morocco in the morning and watch the snake charmers, story tellers, acrobats and water vendors in traditional costume in the evening.

Bahia Palace

This palace was built at the end of the 19th century and was the biggest palace of its time. It has a surface area of 8,000 square metres and houses a number of courtyard gardens and 150 rooms fronting the courtyards. The word bahia means shiny. All these features makes the Bahia Palace one of the most amazing sights in Marrakesh.

Dar Si Said Museum

This museum, located in a 19th-century palace, pays homage to regional Moroccan mâalems (master artisans) and regional craftsmen. The woodwork in particular is magnificent. Marvel during your citytrip in Morocco at the centuries-old collection with highlights such as the High Atlas carpets and antique ‘man bags’ – a fashion item that has made a comeback.

Koutoubia Mosque

The Koutoubia Mosque is Marrakesh’s largest mosque and for this reason alone, is worth a visit. It is well-known for its 69-metre-tall minaret that has been the inspiration for countless church spires in Spain and Eastern Europe. The mosque’s name comes from the Arabic word for ‘librarian’; in days gone by, street vendors used to sell manuscripts around the mosque.
