Hand luggage

You will soon be flying to one of our destinations and taking hand luggage on board. We make every effort to make this a smooth process for everyone. You can help us out with this.

What can I take with me as hand luggage?

Per adult/child, you can take 1 piece of hand luggage of max. 10 kg. This could be a trolley or a bag.

If, as well as a trolley or bag, you would also like to take a small handbag, then combine them so you only have one piece of hand luggage when boarding.

You can choose from 2 different sizes of hand luggage, namely:

Cabin transport guaranteed

Max. 45 x 40 x 25 cm

This piece of hand luggage will get a green label. Stow this piece of hand luggage under the seat in front of you.

Cabin transport not guaranteed

Max. 55 x 40 x 25 cm 

This piece of hand luggage will get a red label. Stow this piece of hand luggage in the overhead luggage compartments. Please keep in mind that in case overhead compartments are full, your luggage could be transported in hold for free.


Please note: We check the weight and size of your hand luggage, as well as the number of items (max. 1 per passenger), at the check-in desk and at the gate. If your hand luggage fails to meet the guidelines, you will need to buy an extra allowance to check your hand luggage in hold. At the gate you have to pay a fee of €40 per piece. You can only pay with a credit or debit card.

What are the rules for travelling with liquids?

Your hand luggage must comply with EU safety rules. During the hand luggage screening, liquids must be presented separately in containers of no more than 100 ml per item.

These containers must be kept in a resealable transparent plastic bag of no more than 1 litre. You may only take one 1 litre plastic bag per person.

Exceptions
There is no limit to the amount of the following items you may take with you. These items do not need to be placed in a transparent plastic bag, but must be presented separately during hand luggage screening:

  • Baby food
  • Medication
  • Cooling elements for transporting medication

What am I not allowed to take as hand luggage?

You are not allowed to take the following items in your hand luggage:

  • Firearms
  • Pointed or sharp weapons or objects with sharp edges, such as a nail file, nail scissors or razor blade
  • Blunt objects, such as a baseball bat or golf club 
  • Explosive or flammable substances, such as a lighter.
    • Cigarette lighters may not be transported in hand or hold luggage, but can be carried on the passenger’s person (in a trouser pocket, for example).
  • Chemical or toxic substances

Can I take electronic devices on board and use them during the flight?

You can take small electronic devices in your hand luggage and use them throughout the flight. If the devices can send and transmit, however, they must be switched to the flight mode. Examples of permitted devices are smartphones, mobile phones (except those without a flight mode, which must be switched off for the duration of the flight), tablets, cameras, small portable game computers and e-readers.
Large devices must be switched off during take-off and landing (and when the fasten seat belts sign is on). This includes laptops and notebooks.
Some devices may never be used on board, such as electronic cigarettes, personal air purifiers, toys with a remote control, televisions, transmitters, VHF scanners/receivers and devices that use the mobile network.

Hand luggage tips

  • Measure and weigh your hand luggage before coming the airport.
  • You are allowed to bring 1 piece of hand luggage of a maximum of 10 kg per adult/child.
  • A purse, laptop bag or camera bag also counts as 1 piece of hand luggage. Combine these before you arrive at the airport, so you are only travelling with 1 piece of hand luggage.
  • Place valuables such as travel documents, electronics and/or medicines in a separate bag. This way, you can easily remove these items and keep them with you during the flight if your hand luggage ends up being transported as hold luggage.
