If you want to discover the historic culture of Zadar, visit the city centre, which breathes history and is the pride of Zadar. In its narrow, romantic streets, you’ll be amazed by the cathedral, medieval walls and impressive gates. The main street of Kalelarga is lined with outdoor cafés, perfect for taking a break and sampling Croatian cuisine. The historic centre is also the place to be for exciting nightlife!

Transport to/from the airport

Zadar's airport is located about 8 km to the east of the city centre. You can travel to/from the airport by taxi or bus.
  • Taxi

    There are taxi ranks opposite the exit of the international arrival hall. There are taxis as long as the airport is open: between 6 am and 10 pm. Taxi fares cost around 25 Kuna plus 8 Kuna per kilometre.
  • Bus

    There are buses outside the international arrival hall to bring you to the centre of Zadar. A single fare costs about 25 Kuna and the journey takes about 20 minutes.

  • Bus

    The bus is the most popular form of public transport in Croatia. The bus service in Zadar is run by the company Liburnija. You can buy a ticket at a kiosk which is cheaper than from the bus driver.
  • Train

    Do you also want to explore the surroundings of Zadar? Take the train! Apart from Dubrovnik, the train goes to all the large cities in Croatia.
  • Taxi

    The taxis in Zadar have meters. The fares are higher than in the Netherlands. You can hail taxis on the street or pick one up from a taxi rank. These are often at tourist attractions, stations and large hotels.
