Nantes is located only 30 minutes by car from the French coast. Within no time, you’ll find yourself strolling on the beach along the azure blue Atlantic Ocean. Yet Nantes is also perfect for taking in culture. The historic district of Bouffay boasts medieval houses and many historic buildings. Right at the heart of the city you’ll find the striking Château des Ducs de Bretagne. This castle is a sight to be seen from both the inside and outside. Tip: also visit the stunning botanical gardens nearby.

In addition to all of its history, Nantes is also a very modern city. Ride the impressive mechanical elephant (Les Machines de l'île) and explore the beautiful theatres and street art. Need a break from all the sightseeing? Nantes is also a shopping paradise, one that easily measures up to Paris! Transport to/from the airport

Nantes Airport is located about 12 km from the city centre. You can travel to/from the airport by taxi or bus.
  • Taxi

    There are taxi ranks outside, in front of Terminal 1. You can also order a taxi at Terminal 4. The taxi will come and pick you up from the Terminal.
  • Bus

    The TAN shuttle bus (Navette Tan Air) runs to the city centre and the central station of Nantes. The departure times of the TAN are coordinated with the arrival and departure times of the flights. It is less than a 25-minute drive to the centre.

Travel anywhere within Nantes:
  • Bus

    Nantes has a solid and modern bus network. The bus network is conveniently connected to the tram network, which means you can change quickly and easily from bus to tram and vice versa. The buses run from 07:15 to 21:00. 
  • Tram

    Transport company TAN regulates the Nantes tramway service. Explore the city with three different tram lines. 
  • Taxi

    In Nantes, you can hail a taxi on the street or hire one at a taxi rank. You will find the stands at the central station of Nantes or at the Place du Commerce (square). Most taxis have a meter. The taxi rates are a slightly higher at night.
