Transport to/from the airport

Palermo’s airport is located about 32 km from Palermo city centre. You can travel to/from the airport by taxi, bus or train.
  • Taxi

    The taxi ranks are outside, in front of the arrival hall. The journey to Palermo city centre takes about 40 minutes.
  • Bus

    Buses from the Prestia e Comandè bus company are outside the arrival hall. There is a bus to the centre of town every half hour. The journey takes about 50 minutes.
  • Train

    The railway station is under the airport. The Trinacria Express will bring you to the centre of Palermo. The journey takes about 1 hour.

Transport in the city/region

Travel anywhere within Palermo:
  • Bus

    Palermo’s AMAT buses are immediately recognisable for their striking orange colour. They are the perfect, cheap way of travelling. The buses can be very full though and the journey can take a long time because of rush hour traffic.
  • Taxi

    Hail taxis on the street in Palermo or pick them up from taxi ranks, many of which are at stations and sights.
