Zurich is known as a city of free thinkers and this is evident everywhere. Make sure to visit a few museums in the hip neighbourhood of Zürich West. Highly recommended is the Kunsthaus Zürich with its famous works by Picasso. Transport to/from the airport

Zurich Airport is located about 12 km outside the city centre. Take a taxi, train, bus or tram to/from the airport.

  • Taxi

    There are taxi ranks in front of Arrivals 1 and 2. Official taxis are recognisable by their signs on the roof saying “AIRPORT TAXI”.
  • Train

    The train station is beneath Terminal B. Apart from the intercity trains, there are local trains to Zurich’s central station every 10 minutes. Tickets are available from the ticket machines and the ticket counters at the airport.
  • Bus

    The bus station is located behind the airport’s car park. Buses leave every 10 minutes from the airport to the centre of Zurich. 
  • Tram

    There are two trams from the airport. Tram 10 runs about every 10 minutes and tram 12 runs every 15 minutes. 

Transport in the city/region

Travel anywhere within Zurich:
  • Bus

    Zurich has a very efficient public transport system. This is also true for the bus service which is a very convenient way of travelling long distances within the city. Buy tickets in advance from a ticket machine or from a kiosk. Buses run every day from 5:30 am to midnight.
  • Tram

    The tram is the perfect way to go sightseeing. The times are listed at the stops and the trams always run on time. Very conveniently, just like the buses, they run every day from 5:30 am to midnight.
  • Train

    Take the train from Zurich to visit other Swiss cities, like Geneva, or other countries. 
  • Taxi

    Taxis may be expensive but they are very convenient. Stop taxis on the street or go to a taxi rank. Tip: there are always taxis at the railway station.

The currency used in Zurich is the Swiss Frank (CHF). 

Flight duration

The flight to Zurich is about one and a half hours. The outbound and inbound flights may be shorter if the wind direction is favourable.
