Start the new year in a completely Portuguese way in Lisbon! In this historical city, you can enjoy a drink in the evening at a charming outdoor café or get in to the party mood with live performances on the large squares. And at midnight, you of course raise a glass of sparkling champagne. Do you want extra luck? Then do as the Portuguese do and eat twelve raisins as you make twelve wishes. One wish for every month of the year. You can then kick of the new year in a festive way with music and merriment on Praça do Comércio Square. Would you prefer to take it a bit easier? Then watch the various firework shows from Castelo de São Jorge; from here you have a wonderful view over the city!

In Italy, everything is celebrated with food. So it’s no wonder that the residents of Rome start their New Year's Eve with a sumptuous meal. Join in and reserve a table in a wonderful restaurant! Once everyone has eaten, you simply follow the Italians to one of the old squares in the city. Here you can enjoy classic or pop concerts on a crowded square and join in the new year’s countdown. At midnight, wonderful fireworks light up the historic city - a moment never to forget! And then? Then you party on in one of the squares or in a hip club.
