Everybody deserves a great trip, including young people who cannot ‘just’ go on holiday because of sickness or difficult circumstances. This is why, since 1996, the Peter Pan Holiday Club has been organising holidays for young people who are ill. During the trips, the focus is not on the sickness, but having fun with your peers. The foundation is fully comprised of Transavia volunteers who organise and supervise the trips. Read here where they go to and the participants’ exciting stories.
It helps create unforgettable memories, friends for life, and days filled with fun. That is what holidays do to you. Some young people don’t go on holiday often, because they are chronically ill and so can’t (easily) go on a trip. The Peter Pan Holiday Club was founded specially for these people. This way, they can go on holiday together and experience unforgettable adventures. They learn from each other how to cope with their illnesses and how they can better accept them, which helps them gain self confidence. They don’t have their parents with them, and they feel that their illness is not there for a while. This is the key ingredient to a great trip and an unforgettable experience.
When Transavia celebrated its 50th birthday, it gave the Peter Pan Holiday Club a very special present, namely… a Peter Pan aeroplane! One of the Boeing 737s is flying with the colours and the new logo of the Peter Pan Holiday Club. Have you spotted it already? In our video we show you how this unique aircraft takes to the air.
Sanne started on her journey in 2022 when she travelled to Mallorca. Her holiday was fantastic. Better yet, she had the time of her life. “I made new friends during the trip. Friends that understand me and get it if I sometimes don’t feel very well. This is so incredibly good and I am very thankful for it.” What will stay with her forever? The fun, the colourful evening, and all the wonderful activities. They did a challenge where everyone pushed their limits, but they also took a relaxing boat ride on the catamaran. “Although there were fantastic supervisors with us, I had the feeling that I was on holiday with a group of friends. Every time I think back on it, I have the biggest smile on my face and am transported back to Mallorca.”
