What are the rules for loose (lithium) batteries, such as power banks?
You can bring a power bank, AA battery or any other rechargeable battery for your laptop or smartphone on your trip. There are a few important rules for transporting these loose lithium batteries:
- You can bring a maximum of 20 individual lithium batteries with a rating of up to 100 Wh each;
- You should carry the lithium batteries in your cabin luggage.
- For safety reasons, batteries are definitely not allowed in your hold luggage;
- You bring the lithium battery in its original packaging. If you do not have the original packaging, isolate the battery contact points by covering them with tape;
- Pack each battery in a separate plastic bag.
Please note: Lithium batteries are not permitted on flights to Tel Aviv, except in wheelchairs.
Lithium batteries in an electric wheelchair
Due to safety on board, lithium batteries in an electric wheelchair can only be transported in the cabin. Take the battery out of the wheelchair, isolate the battery contact points with tape and take it as a cabin bag. Read more about how to transport the battery of your wheelchair safely.
