Admire Riga
The old centre of Riga has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. And rightly so: there are many beautiful sights and monuments, some even stem from the Middle Ages. Because the centre is quite small, you can easily admire most of the city’s highlights by foot. Take a walk to the most beautiful church: St Peter’s Church, for instance. Climb the tower for a wonderful view over the city. Not far from the church you will find Cathedral Square with the Cathedral of Riga. The Freedom Monument and the famous Town Hall Square with the House of the Blackheads are also a stone’s throw from here. Worked up an appetite? In Riga, you can enjoy a delicious meal out at an affordable price. And even at trendy eateries, because many empty buildings have been transformed into restaurants.
When are you flying to Riga?
Riga is a great place to visit in summer as well as in winter. Whereas in the summer you can enjoy the sunny weather at a pavement café, the city is like a fairy-tale in the winter. Around the Christmas period, you will find wonderful Christmas markets on Cathedral Square and Līvu Laukums Square. Whichever season you choose, Riga is certainly worth visiting!
