View from above

For an escape from the lively town centre, the Santa-Cruz fort dating from the 17th century is well worth a visit. You should don some sturdy shoes to get there, as the fort is perched atop the summit of Mount Murdjadjo. But you will be rewarded with an amazing view over the town and the sea.

Oran like a local

The Jdida medina is the shopping district of Oran. You can find everything you need on this market: souvenirs, clothes and also food. Also don’t forget to sample the local speciality: Karantika, a pie made from chickpea flour.
