Lanzarote is magical. At the heart of this beautiful island is a volcanic moonscape - it sometimes looks as though you are on another planet. An absolute must is the Timanfaya National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Hundreds of years ago more than 100 volcanoes destroyed this part of the island and it is now known as the Montañas del Fuego, the Fire Mountains. The best beaches are at the southern end of the island. Its name says it all: Playa Blanca has wonderful pearly white beaches and fantastic clear water.
