Algiers, the capital city of Algeria, lies on the Mediterranean Sea in the north of Africa. The city is a cultural wonder. The village Timgad has Roman remains including the Trajan Arch (triumphant arch). At the end of the day, relax on the beach and relish the memory of all the sights. The white houses on the blue water are a fabulous sight!
The heart of the city: the Casbah
There is one thing that must not be missed when you fly to Algiers: the Casbah (medina). It is the heart of the city and is a maze of narrow streets and attractive sights. The Djemaa El-Kebir Mosque and the Catholic basilica Our Lady of Africa are the most important sights. End your day in the harbour with a delicious meal. The menu has Turkish, Egyptian and Moroccan influences. Plenty of choice!
