On the frontier between Europe and Asia lays Armenia. This beautiful country is an interesting mix of culture and nature, thanks to its ancient history. Armenia is located in the Caucasus, between Turkey and Azerbeidzjan, an amazing area. Full of green forests, mountains, spacious flower fields, impressive canyons and even volcano’s. Scattered throughout this fierce nature are ancient monasteries, churches and authentic nomad settlements. So, pack your hiking boots and start exploring! The mountains in Armenia are high and great for skiing in winter. Don’t forget to bring your camera, the pictures you’ll take here will make everyone at home jealous!
Very good food
The tasty Armenian cuisine is a mix of the best dishes from neighbouring countries. It’s influenced by European, Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine. Well seasoned dumplings but also typical meat and potato dishes are on the menu, tasty! And, nice to know: the Armenians are known as winemakers since forever. So, even things to try out when you go out for diner. The best restaurants to taste all of this goodness are found in Armenia’s capital city of Jereven. A historical pearl that is worth a visit for many reasons.
Water and nature fun
One Armenia’s natural highlights is lake Sevan, one of the highest lakes in the world. City folk enjoy spending their summers here and you should join them. The edges of the big lake are surrounded by old buildings, ruines and good fish restaurants. It’s great fun because you can swim, windsurf, jetski or go sailing on the water. Enough activities to choose from! Looking for a calmer place to spend your time? Go visit the Dilijan national park. This green and forested area is known for its medicinal mineral water sources and is a very peaceful place.
