Split is the second largest city in Croatia. Its location on the coast makes it the perfect place for a fabulous beach holiday. But the city is also known for its historic centre: Diocletian’s Palace. This enormous magnificent Roman monument is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Discover its historic treasures such as de Jupiter Temple, St. Duje Cathedral and dungeons within its walls. Get lost in the maze of alleys around the palace where you can find souvenir shops and picturesque café terraces.

Transport to/from the airport

Split’s airport is located about 20 km from the city centre. You can travel to/from the airport by taxi or bus.
  • Taxi

    The taxi is the fastest way to get to the centre of Split. The trip takes 25 minutes. It is far more expensive than travelling by bus. Tip: haggling is accepted.

  • Bus

    Airport Buses run from the airport. The journey to the centre of Split takes about 30 minutes and costs about 30 Kuna. Apart from the Airport Buses, Promet Split bus numbers 37 and 38 also go to the city centre. The journey takes about 50 minutes, but the price of a bus ticket is lower.

    The buses in Split are run by the Promet Split bus company. You can use the bus to explore the city centre and attractive places around the city. Buy tickets in the bus or at the Promet Split kiosks.
  • Taxi

    You can hail a taxi anywhere on the street in Split. Looking for taxi ranks? You can find these close to hotels, the harbour, the main bus station and near the Riva.
