Or perhaps you would like a day of not walking barefoot on the sand? In that case, stroll around the historic district of El Barrio with its colourful houses. This area is the starting point to the Santa Bárbara Castle. This enormous castle on top of Mount Benacantil lies high above the city. If the walk to the top is too strenuous, just take the cable car. The view over the city, the harbour and the Mediterranean Sea is a fabulous memory!

When can you fly to Alicante?

Alicante has one of the best climates in Europe. It is always warm in summer with temperatures of up to 30 degrees. And it is usually very pleasant in winter. Transport to/from the airport

Alicante’s airport is located about 11 km from the city centre. You can travel to/from the airport by taxi or bus.
  • Taxi

    The taxis are outside the arrival hall on the ground floor and outside the departure hall on the second floor.
  • Bus

    The bus departs for the centre of Alicante every 20 minutes from the departures hall on the second floor.

  • Bus

    The TAM bus company provides a cheap and fast bus service in Alicante. You can use the buses to explore the areas around Alicante. Buy your ticket at newsagents, kiosks and supermarkets.
  • Tram

    The tram is the perfect way to travel to towns near Alicante such as Denia. Buy your ticket at newsagents, kiosks and supermarkets.
  • Train

    Take the RENFE company trains in Alicante to other major cities in the countries. In just a short while you can be in Barcelona, Valencia or Madrid.
  • Taxi

    You can hail a taxi anywhere on the street in Alicante. These are often white with a blue stripe on the front the car.
