The inviting city of Antalya lies at the foot of the Taurus Mountains and is surrounded by beaches and tall cliffs. Lounge away the day on the beach next to the blue sea and enjoy delightful temperatures. Looking for more than sun, sea and sand? The archaeological museum has a collection of large sarcophagi and well-preserved statues from Roman times. The Yivli Minare mosque, with its tall minaret, is the city’s symbol and can be admired from quite a good distance. The Kursunlu waterfalls are located just outside the city. Surrounded by pine trees, this unique nature area is well worth a visit.

When are you flying to Antalya?

Antalya is delightfully warm all year round. Temperatures can get hot in the summer, but the sand and pebble beaches are also great for relaxing in the winter. After a lazy day on the beach, enjoy the numerous specialities of the Turkish cuisine in the evening. Try a traditional kebab or the popular iskembe soup!

Transport to/from the airport

Antalya’s airport is located about 10 km from the city centre. You can travel to/from the airport by taxi or shuttle bus.
  • Taxi

    Directly opposite the arrival hall of the airport are the taxi ranks. It is not usual to negotiate the fare at the airport.  
  • Bus

    There are a number of buses that go from the airport to the centre of Antalya. Bus 600 brings you to the city’s main bus station: Antalya Bus Terminal (Otagar). The journey takes about 25 minutes.

  • Bus

  • Tram

    If you want a day of sightseeing in the old centre, the tram is the perfect form of transport! It runs along the coast to the eastern part of the city.  
  • Taxi

    You can hail a taxi anywhere in Antalya. Check the meter or agree a price in advance.

Important information

  • It is recommended to be vaccinated for Hepatitis A and DTP. This is not obligatory.

Passport and visa

You need a passport or identity card that is still at least valid for at least 6 months when you arrive. Apart from a passport or identity card, you also need a visa. 

Since 10 April 2014 you are required to obtain a visa before you travel. You cannot get a visa at airports in Turkey any more. You can only pay for your visa with a credit card. To make sure that your payment is made on time, we recommend arranging your visa at least 24 hours in advance. Please note! Do you have a French passport? Then you do not need to apply for a visa. In Antalya, it is 1 hour later than it is in the Netherlands.

Currency

The currency used in Antalya is the Turkish Lira (YTL).

Duration of flight

The flight to Antalya takes about 3 hours and 45 minutes. The outbound and inbound flights may be shorter if the wind direction is favourable.
