Special baggage

Taking your skis, bike or golf bag on holiday? Read all about taking special baggage on your flight!

If you’re heading off to do winter sports, going on a cycling holiday, or if you wish to bring a musical instrument, you might be taking special baggage on board. We also call it ‘alternative baggage at Transavia’ or special baggage at Transavia’.

Special baggage such as a wheelchair, golf bag, kite surfing bag, diving equipment, sports weapon, medical baggage or Transavia winter sports baggage needs to be registered prior to your flight, ideally during booking. Each flight can only take a limited quantity of baggage. This is a way of being certain that your special baggage can come on board. You can also register your special baggage later on via My Transavia, provided that you have not checked in online or in person. Once you have checked in, it is no longer possible to amend any aspect of your booking.

You can also take a bicycle on board with Transavia, since just like golf bags or kite surf bags, bicycles fall under special baggage. Plenty of options are available regardless of what you wish to take on board. This page contains information on what is and what is not permitted, along with which items you can bring with you as hand luggage. Please also read the rules applying to certain equipment and items.

Once you’ve booked in your special baggage and checked all the rules, it’s time to check in. Check in as early as possible to allow time for the baggage screening.
