Soak up the culture in Bergamo

Only five kilometres from the airport, Bergamo is the undiscovered gem of Northern Italy. The city is divided into two parts: the old historic centre on the hill (Città Alta) and the new part in the valley (Città Bassa). The old part is surrounded by a thick 16th century city wall. Within these walls, you will find one monument after the other from the heyday of The Republic of Venice. You will really feel like you are in a medieval city.

Explored all there is to see in ‘Città Alta’? Take the cable car to the new part of the city in the valley. Built in the 19th century, this part has fewer historic monuments, but is the perfect place for a fun shopping spree!

Make sure you leave some space in your suitcase, because Milan, the fashion capital of the world, is only an hour away. Anyone who loves shopping will have the time of their life in the spectacular indoor shopping centre ‘Galleria Vittorio Emanuele’. But this city offers so much more than shopping. The main attraction is the ‘Duomo’. Go to the top of this iconic cathedral tower for an amazing view over the city.
