Minimising the impact on the environment during your trip starts with packing. For example, by reducing (plastic) waste. We are also doing our part. For example, we separate PMD waste on board, which reduces residual waste by 50%. Curious about what you can do? We recommend our seven favourite sustainable travel gadgets!

Sustainable garment bags

No more rummaging around in your bag because you've lost something. With garment bags, you can neatly pack your suitcase or bag. For example, by using different colours: underwear in a green bag and shirts in an orange bag. So, you will always know where to find what you need. Use durable garment bags made of strong materials that you reuse every trip, for example from the Sunflake brand.

Portable solar charger

Before you know it, your phone or e-reader will be empty along the way. That's why you should always take a portable solar charger with you when traveling. With the Solar Powerbank 10,000 mAh, you can charge multiple devices at the same time, using solar energy. Even the smallest amount of light is sufficient to recharge the battery. Also handy: this charger is also equipped with a compass and flashlight.

Refillable water bottle

When traveling, always carry your own refillable water bottle in your bag so you don't have to buy plastic water bottles. This not only saves money, but also prevents a lot of plastic waste. Or opt for a thermos bottle: it provides you with hot tea for 24 hours in cold destinations and keeps your water cold in hot regions. Tip: In combination with a LifeStraw, you can drink safely from the tap anywhere in the world.

Water filter

Imagine: you're walking in a city where no drinking water comes from the tap, and you want to avoid plastic bottles. Or you're walking in the jungle and your water bottle is empty. When traveling, it often happens that drinking water is not just available. So, carry a LifeStraw water filter in your bag. This is a type of straw with a built-in filter that allows you to drink safely and directly from a contaminated water source. In addition, with the ‘Give Back’ programme, LifeStraw ensures that you also help other people get clean and safe drinking water with your purchase.

Reusable shopping bag

Take a foldable shopping bag with you when you travel so you don't have to buy plastic bags over and over again. For example, a simple canvas bag or a recycled polyester bag. Tip: Choose a reusable bag with a nice design. For example, you have a multifunctional bag that you can also take to the beach or during a day of shopping.

Plastic-free and natural 3-in-1 Travel Wash Bar

No more worrying about rules about liquids or bottles leaking in your bag. With the sustainable 3-in-1 Travel Wash Bar by HappySoaps, you have all you need while traveling. This bar is in fact a shampoo, shower and shaving soap in one. It leaves you with extra space in your suitcase or bag. Also nice: the bar is completely plastic-free and contains only environmentally friendly ingredients.

Metal straws

Consider: how often do you drink with a straw while traveling? These plastic straws are discarded immediately after use and contribute to the plastic soup. With a reusable metal straw in your bag, you always have a straw at the ready and contribute to a cleaner environment.

Tip: Before you travel, learn to say the phrase ‘Please could I have a drink without a straw’ in the language of the destination country.

At Transavia, we are also taking small steps towards a more sustainable future. For example, we already have no plastic straws on board, and we use more sustainable fuel. Curious about what else we do? Find out on our sustainability page!
