What conditions must my medical certificate meet?

This medical certificate must meet the following conditions:

  • The medical statement must be written in English.
  • A doctor must have signed the certificate.
  • If you have an unexpected medical situation, your medical certificate must not be older than 7 days before the departure of your outbound flight.
  • If you have a certificate for your medical luggage (medicines or equipment) for a chronic condition, your certificate must not be older than 6 months before the departure of your outbound flight.

Please note: Are you taking your own portable oxygen concentrator with you when traveling and do you need to use it during the flight? If so, it is important that you bring a medical certificate that is not older than 7 days before the departure of your outbound flight. This medical certificate must state that flying has no adverse effects on your health. This is called a Fit to Fly certificate. You can read more about bringing your own portable oxygen concentrator in our FAQ.
