What conditions must my wheelchair or mobility scooter meet to be allowed on a Transavia flight?
We can transport your wheelchair or mobility scooter to your destination if it is within the dimensions of 121 cm (width) x 113 cm (length) x 85 cm (height).
If your wheelchair weighs more than 32 kg, we can only transport your wheelchair or mobility scooter upright in the hold. To do this, it must not be higher than 85 cm, otherwise it won’t fit through the baggage hold door. Is your wheelchair or mobility scooter higher than 85 cm but weighs less than 32 kg? Then we can take it along tilted.
If you have indicated that you are travelling with a wheelchair or mobility scooter, you will automatically receive an email with a link to a form. Here you enter information about your wheelchair or mobility scooter, such as the size, weight and type of battery. That way we can assess if we can transport it. Please fill out this form at least 48 hours before departure. We need time to properly assess your application. Is everything okay? Then you will receive a confirmation by email. You need this confirmation to travel. Did you not receive the email with the form? Please contact our Service Centre.
Even if you have an IATA certificate, you must still notify us of your wheelchair or mobility scooter and provide us with the specifications. This allows us to assess whether your wheelchair or mobility scooter will fit in the hold. Just having a certificate is not enough to bring your wheelchair and/or mobility scooter onto the aircraft.
Preparing your wheelchair or mobility scooter for travel
Before we can load your wheelchair or mobility scooter, you must prepare it for travel. This means disconnecting the battery and packing it correctly. You can read how to do so in our FAQ about wheelchair and mobility scooter batteries. You must also disconnect all loose parts (such as the headrest) from your wheelchair or mobility scooter. You should take these loose parts on board with you. We will include these items in your extra baggage allowance.
