What should I take into account when bringing medicine on board the aircraft?
- Place your medication in your hand luggage
Place your medication in a separate bag inside your hand luggage. This allows you to easily access your medication during the flight and keep it near you. - Make sure you have a prescription in English
Bring a prescription for your medicines in English with you. You can show this at the airport abroad if asked during the safety screening. - Request a European medical passport
Ask your doctor or chemist for a European medical passport. This contains information on all the medicines you use in various languages. You can also show this at the airport abroad if asked during the safety screening. - Regarding the transport of syringes and needles:
- The transport of epicutaneous needles and syringes on board (in the cabin) is only allowed with a medical prescription. Please ensure you have a letter from your doctor confirming the type of treatment and the reason for its administration during the flight. You must administer the necessary injections yourself during the flight. The cabin crew is not permitted, under any circumstances, to administer medication, including injections. If you need to use your needles, please inform the crew so they can provide you with a dedicated sharps container for safe disposal.
