Latest update 7 September 2026 at 16:00
Are you planning to travel to the airport by train or bus? The FNV and CNV trade unions have announced a public transport strike on Wednesday 9 September. As a result, there will be almost no trains or buses running across the country that day. However, there will be a train running four times an hour between Amsterdam Central and Schiphol. The strike begins on Wednesday morning at 4.00 am and lasts until Thursday morning at 4.00 am.
NS ensures that Schiphol remains accessible. The Airportsprinter between Amsterdam Central Station, Schiphol Airport and Hoofddorp runs four times an hour. We recommend that you plan your journey carefully. Please bear in mind that it may be busier than usual and that your journey to the airport may take longer.
We advise preparing your trip in advance and choosing alternative transportation, such as by car or bus. Please keep in mind that it may be busier than usual and that travel times to the airport could be longer.
Make sure you are well prepared and check the latest travel updates before you leave.
