What are the requirements for pets’ travel documents?
Your pet must have a passport called "pet passport." This must be issued by an authorized veterinarian. The passport must include the following details:
- Valid rabies vaccinations. Your pet must be vaccinated at least 21 days before departure.
- The rules for the medical certificate included in the passport differ depending on the country. To learn the applicable rules in your destination country, contact the embassy or consulate of that country.

If your pet was tattooed before July 3, 2011, and the tattoo is still clearly visible, it can travel within the European Union.
